Can I select "multiple states" as sources for Exempt Interest Dividends in Box 12 of 1099-DIV?

Turbo Tax wants me to identify individual states as payers of Exempt Interest Dividends. Illinois doesn't exempt interest dividends from securities held in mutual funds. Turbo Tax has stopped me at this point.

Yes, you can check the box to indicate 'I earned tax exempt dividends in more than one state' when entering your 1099-Div in the Federal section, and list the individual states and amounts.
