Can I leave Box 20 blank if my W2 just has asterisks in it?

My employer always puts ********* in Box 20 of my W-2. TurboTax does not like that. I need to file my taxes but the review keeps coming back to that issue. The asterisks are hiding the entry, so I can't just add asterisks as the entry.

Enter the correct location of your work.

I work from home and pay county taxes. I am not sure if putting the county, or city, or both or if putting something different than what the employer has put in there will mess something up.

If there is no amount in Box 19, leave 18-20 blank.     If there is an amount in Box 19, ask the payroll dept. who the tax went to.

If you are using in "Step by Step" mode, try switching over to the "Forms" mode and edit directly there.

you should consider "*******" the same as an empty box.
