CA Insurance penalty exemption

Hi,

My spouse plan to live abroad for the whole 2024 year and I plan not to enroll her insurance and save the premium, I will still live in CA myself. But I heard CA may have insurance penalty exemption that if someone lives aboard, however, my spouse and I will do married jointly filing for both federal and CA state, is there any concern or requirement? Will we still have tax bucket rate for married jointly filing?

Thanks!

CA Insurance penalty exemption

You can still file jointly and, yes, she will be exempted from the health insurance premium penalty.
