There is a persistent bug in Turbotax for the preparation of Maryland tax. This bug has prevented me from purchasing and using Turbotax online for my Maryland return. Here is a description of the bug:
It is item ab in the 502U form, titled "INCOME FROM U.S. GOVERNMENT OBLIGATIONS." This item can include interest, dividends, and capital gains. Unfortunately, the online Turbotax system only allows for capital gains. Our entry in recent years has been from dividends. This omission forces me to decline to purchase and use Turbotax for Maryland and to use the free website provided by the Maryland Office of the Comptroller instead.
I am requesting that the bug be fixed do that I can purchase and use Turbotax online for our state return. That would save me from having to enter the same information into two different tax preparation systems.
