Amend tax

Hi, I have a question regarding donation. I donated a few hundred dollars cash to  a school on 4/15/ 2018, but accidently reported this donation as a itemized deduction in Schedule A in the year 2017 tax return.   What should I do? Should I amend both 2017yr and 2018 yr tax return? I think I should deduct the donation in 2018 tax return not 2017 tax return. I realize this error now. Will I get penalty by IRS for the year 2017 tax return because I made deduction in 2017?  Thank you so much.

It all evens out in the long run.

Figure the two changed taxable amounts; the difference is probably negligible or zero.
