Am I able to contest my mother claiming my siblings as dependents if I solely took care of them in 2018?

Assuming your Mother has already filed her return, in order to contest your Mother claiming your siblings as dependents when you solely took care of them in 2018, you will need to do the following:

• Include them as a Dependents on your Tax Return and mail in your tax return.  
• Once the IRS receives your return, they will send out paperwork to both you and your Mother to determine who should be claiming them.  
• Once you prove you are the rightful claimer, they will issue your refund and rescind it from your Mother.

This process takes time but will be worth it in the end when you get the refund you are entitled to for taking care of your siblings.
