After using the Standardized Ded for Federal, will it ACTUALLY lower my California taxes, by going back and taking alot of time to enter Charity on Fed?

It is clear that we should not Itemize for Federal.  But exceptions for CA still allow deductions for Charity, Vehicle Reg, other.  TT says go back and enter those in Federal even though Standardized chosen.  It takes alot of time.  Does it work??

If your itemized deductions for your state return are greater than your standard deduction TurboTax will give you the itemized deduction amount even though you took the standard deduction on your federal return.
