I used TT Desktop on Mac for my 2022 return and earlier and I am thinking of returning to TT for 2024 tax.
I found that there is a bug in its handling of form 4852, the form to use when you don't get 1099-R and
other forms. I used it to report an annuity payout from a foreign insurance company that doesn't report to IRS.
On TT, I entered text for the line 9 ("How did you determine the amount on line 7 and 8 above?") and line 10 ("Explain your effort to obtain Form W-2, Form 1099-R, or Form W-2C, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement")
But later after I filed, I realized that in the PDF file that TT generated these lines look like this:
That is, each line is just self-referring itself! No text I entered isn't included in the PDF file.
It is a real problem for me because my state doesn't allow e-filing of a tax refund if it contains a substitute form, and I had to mail a printed copy of this PDF file.
My question: Was Intuit aware of this bug and has it been fixed?

It depends. If you decide to use Turbo Tax in 2024, don't use substitute 4852. Instead report this as other income to satisfy the filing requirements for both the federal and state levels. To report.
