How do I report a loss on closed contracts on a 1099-B? All the fields of the 1099-B are blank except for the box 8 and box 11 which report a loss on closed contracts.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
We need you to clarify some information. What amounts are in box 8 and box 11 and what do these boxes represent? Not all 1099-Bs are consistent with how information is reported. Also, are these stock option contracts that closed? Also, were you long these contracts, or were they short positions? Any other information you wish to provide will help us better understand your tax situation.
ayou see our problem is that a 1099-B does not have column 8 or 11
typical; 1a description
1b date acquired
1c date sold
1d proceeds
6 proceeds reported to IRS (if deferent)
1e cost
1f accrued market discount
1g wash sale amount
- realized gain loss
4 federal taxes withheld
