1098 for Father's mortgage that i paid after he passed

When my dad died he had 2 mortgages that i was never able to get in my name.. My dad passed very suddenly and all we had time to do to get the house in my name was file a quit claim deed. I had no idea how pointless those things are because the mortgage companies refuse to give me access to the account without my name being in the actual deed. The house day for s couple years while my brother and i fought over it and just as it was about to go into foreclosure i filled a ch13 bankruptcy to save it. Do i took on those mtg payments for that following year. I am being told i should file 1098s but i never received any. They would have come on his name anyways..   do u even need to file them? Is it worth it ? If so, how would I go about getting then now? Or can i just calculate what i paid and not attach the forms?

If you received a quitclaim deed, your name is on title.

You should counsel local legal counsel.
