The Tax Withholding Estimator on the IRS web site will show you how to adjust your withholding to get the approximate refund amount that you want. On the last screen of the Withholding Estimator, the Results screen, that shows you your expected refund, scroll down to where it says "Want to adjust your results?" Move the slider to select the approximate refund amount that you want. Then scroll down a little more and click the plus sign next to "How to Adjust Your Withholding." It will tell you exactly what to put on each line of the W-4. Be sure to read the notes in the yellow box below that.
