You can take a charitable deduction for mileage you drove for a charity, but only if you itemize deductions.  The Standard Deduction has increased to $12,000 for Single and $24,000 for Married Filing Joint.  If your total itemized deductions don't exceed the Standard Deduction, you won't get any additional tax benefit for your mileage.
