While the tax on my home puts me over the 10K SALT limit, why does TurboTax not add part of that paid tax so I can reach the full 10K SALT deduction, & not $280. short?

What can I do to make sure I get the full 10K SALT deduction. Although TurboTax says I'm approx. $280 short, the program refuses to count any of the $2,600 I paid in real estate tax on my personal home in 2018.

The $280 is the amount you cannot claim as a deduction over the $10K limit. You probably paid around $7680 SALT and $2600 Property tax. The total SALT deduction is $10K, $280 is the amount you cannot claim. It is not intuitive.
