We replaced 2 natural gas hot water heaters in 2016. Can we claim the credit for each unit or is it $150 regardless of how many? This is for our primary residence.

You are eligible for a credit of $150 for each qualified natural gas hot water boiler, subject a lifetime credit limit of $500, So in your case, you can claim $150 X 2 = $300.
