We purchased a new Trane Heat Pump in 2016. Can I claim a tax credit for this?

Yes, if it meets the following requirements:  25C requirements of 15 SEER/12.5 EER/8.5 HSPF (all three efficiency levels must be met to qualify for the tax credit) https://www.trane.com/residential/en/buying-a-trane/tax-credits.html

Print out the Manufacturer’s Tax Credit Certificate - Tax Payer Relief Act of 2012 https://www.trane.com/content/dam/Trane/residential/downloads/taxcertificates/Trane%20Split%20AC%20%...

To enter Qualified energy-saving improvements in the Deductions & Credits section:
  1. Open your return, if you don't already have it open.
  2. In TurboTax, search for energy improvements. (Do not search for "energy credit," as this will take you to the wrong place in the program.)
  3. Click the "Jump to" link in the search results.
  4. At the bottom of the Energy-Saving Home Improvements screen, answer Yes and continue. Follow the on-screen instructions.
