TT is using the standard deduction for my California Return. In previous years it has always itemized. I owe a lot more tax using the standard deduction. What's going on?

I assume the reason is that I took the Standard Deduction for my Federal return. Can I take the Standard Deduction for Federal and itemize my California Return?

Yes, you can take the standard deduction in federal and itemize in California. I just tried it using a forced standard deduction in federal despite having entered many itemized deductions. California gave me the larger number, the itemized deductions adjusted for California.
