Trying to do Foreign Tax Credit Carryback by amending 2017 return. Says need to enter "Carryback" in Country Name but that is not possible since is a dropdown.

Since amended returns are sent by paper, here is the workaround.  On the  dropdown, select something short such as "RIC".  After printing out the form, blank the entry out with correction fluid and then by hand write in "carryback".
