Should I take Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion or Foreign tax credit?

My US income is 267238

Canadian (British Columbia) income is 42000

combined as 309238.

I would try both scenario and see which one is better but I am having trouble getting Foreign tax credit to work.

Since Canadian income tax is usually higher, usually claiming foreign tax credit gives you a better result. It is always safest to test both scenarios - this is just my experience.
