Is an EIN number required to put the interest on the mortgage deduction section?  If so where do I get it?

No, you are not required to have an EIN number to claim mortgage interest.

• Type in mortgage interest  in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass

• Click the jump to mortgage interest  link in the search results

• Follow to prompts and online instructions
