Residental Clean Energy Credit

My question is about timing. The credit I can get is smaller than the taxes paid for 2023. However, I already filed for 2023 three months ago. Is there a way for me to either add to or change my returns for 2023, or get the credit without doing it -- or do I have to wait until I file for 2024?

if you purchased the items that are eligible for the credit in 2023, then you must take the credit in 2023. it's that simple. if you already filed your 2023 tax return, you must amend.
