Sale of home by surviving spouse of living trust

Home was purchased approximately 40 years ago by husband and wife, community property state.  Approximately 30 years ago the home was put into a joint revocable living trust, each spouse as co-trustee.  One spouse passed away approximately 20 years ago, all trust assets passed to the surviving spouse who sold the home in 2021.

On Form 8949, would the acquisition date be the original home purchase date approximately 40 years ago or should the acquisition date be "inherited"?  Property basis has been stepped up to FMV at date of first spouse passing.

Doesn't matter because it's long term either way BUT it's best to use the original purchase date as the acquisition date.
