Deducting Flight Training Expenses as an Aircraft Broker

Greetings Y'all,

I am an aircraft broker (basically real estate agent for private aircraft : Jets to single engine aircraft) and I am self employed. While I have a ton of Aviation knowledge and experience I haven't gotten my pilots license . I am currently working towards that and was wondering if my flight training costs would be able to be deducted ?

I understand the definition is(1) maintain or improve skills required in a trade or business;

And I feel like on the surface I can make an argument that obtaining my Private Pilot's License will improve my skills in my trade (selling aircraft ).

What do y'all think ?

Thanks for the help!

Hey if you're self-employed you can give it a shot BUT be prepared to back up your argument in case you're audited and you know you can't write this off if you're an employee, right?
