It depends.  If you had your own business, meaning you were self-employed, and this particular job was part of your self-employment, then yes, you can deduct it as a business expense.  It would have to be a reasonable and ordinary business expense.  

However, if you were just an employee, then this expense would be an unreimbursed employee expense and thus, not deductible.
