Not able to enter Foreign Income for an Iowa Out-of-State Credit (Potential Software Bug)

I am trying to enter an Out of State credit on a State of Iowa Return for Foreign Income but seem to be running into a software bug.

1) On the "Out-of-State Credit" screen, select [Add] button
2) On the "Name of Other State" screen, choose a country from the Foreign Country pull down menu. (example: Japan)
3) Select [Continue] button
4) On the "Double Taxed Income" screen the only following text is displayed, there is no income data is displayed and there are no entry fields to enter this income data.

"Below are amounts that transferred from your JA return.  Verify the amounts properly represent income you earned while a resident of Iowa that was taxed by both JA and Iowa.  If there are differences enter the correct amounts(s) below."

Is this a software bug?

Yes, this is a possible software bug. I verified what you told me is true within the software. To have it investigated, I need your help.

I would like for you to send me diagnostic copy of your return. The information in this file is a sanitized copy meaning there is no personal information, only numbers so that we can troubleshoot in depth, check for calculation issues, and to see how certain items are applied. Here is how to order.

For Turbo Tax online, go to tax tools>tools>share my file with agent.  When this is selected, you will receive a token number.  Respond back in this thread and tell us what that token number is.

If you use the desktop version, go to the black stripe at the top of the program>online>send tax file to agent. Once you receive the token number, reply back in this thread and let us know what that token number is.

I am having the same problem. It would be nice to get the state credit. I am unable to get the number entered anywhere on TurboTax. The logical place would be where you tried. But that doesn’t work. If they don’t fix it I guess I will submit the Iowa return without the credit and then manually fill out an amended Iowa return to get the credit. A lot of work for my $56 credit. Too bad I already paid Turbo Tax for a state return.

As I mentioned to scottanson051, we need your help to have this investigated. I extend the same offer to you as I did for them.
