My mortgage was refinanced and the address is shown in box 8 however when I enter the information I am told the interest isn't deductible -is this correct?

refinancing of acquisition debt is considered acquisition debt only to the extent it does not exceed the principal outstanding on the loan immediately before the refinancing.  you probably got two 1098's one for the original mortgage and one for the refi.    the new loan must be secure by the home.
