My Boyfriend and I purchased a home in the middle of November 2016. We received a 1098 but only his SS# is on the document. How do we file when we split the cost?

You should each claim the mortgage interest and property tax expense that you actually paid.

Assuming you were mot married on December 31, 2016, you would both file as Single.

Wonderful, Thank you! We split the mortgage 50/50 so I will just divide the Mortgage Interest in half and that number would be what we both claim, Correct?
