Investment interest

I took out a loan which I use to make repairs on my properties (single family residences and a duplex).  May I use the cost of the repairs as investment interest expense?

Investment interest

no the repairs are repairs so on rental properties you deduct them as repairs. on personal residence or portion there of they're not deductible.   for rental properties the portion on interest related to the amount of loan used for repairs and paid during the year is  deductible. none of the interest on the loan related to repairs to your residence would be deductible
