If married and filing separate can both husband and wife deduct moving expenses?

Yes, you  should divide your moving expenses based on who paid them- if they were paid form a joint account, you should divide them evenly.

However, Married Filing Joint generally yields a better tax result than Married Filing Separate even if one spouse earns little or no taxable income.

See Is it better for a married couple to file jointly or separately?

To enter moving expenses:

  • Type in moving expenses in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass

  • Click the jump to moving expenses link in the search results.

  • Follow the onscreen instructions to enter
