@kmon613122 - if you sell your home as a result of a work related move, then your are eligible for the capital gains tax exemption, even though you owned and lived in your home for less than 2 years. Do note, the exemption is prorated.
Let's say you only owned and lived in the home the home for 1 year, instead of the required minimum 2 years, and the capital gain is $50,000. The exemption for a single individual is $250,000 and that would be cut in half due to the proration. So the exemption would be $125,000 and since the capital gains is only $50,000, there would be no capital gains tax.
