If the job-site to job-site work travel you were doing was for your W-2 employer, then, no, you cannot deduct the mileage on your federal return. This is because job-related expenses for employees are no longer deductible on most people’s federal return in tax years 2018 through 2025 due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017.
If the work travel was for your own business, then the mileage would be deductible as a business expense.
Also, some states are still allowing job-related expense deductions, therefore, you can still enter your job-related expenses and TurboTax will determine whether the expenses are deductible in your state.
