I want to use itemized deductions on my NYS return; I took the standard deduction on my fed return, how do I do That?

If you itemize on federal and the itemized amount is less than the standard deduction the program should use the standard deduction on federal but use the itemized deduction on state if state standard deduction is less.

If your New York Itemized Deductions are greater than your New York Standard Deduction, TurboTax will automatically switch it for you in order to maximize your refund.
