The Additional Child Tax Credit is the leftover portion of the Child Tax Credit (up to $1,400) that you're eligible to receive if the Child Tax Credit wipes out your tax liability for the year.
For example, let's say you qualify for the full $2,000 Child Tax Credit but your tax liability for the year is only $750. You'd get $750 back from the Child Tax Credit (the amount needed to reduce your tax liability to $0) and the remaining $1,250 as the Additional Child Tax Credit.
Qualifications for the Additional Child Tax Credit are the same as for the Child Tax Credit, with one more condition: your earned income must be at least $2,500.
To enter or edit information on the Child Care Credit in TurboTax go to 'Deductions and Credits' select 'You and Your Family' then 'child and dependent care credit', or enter 'child tax credit' in the search box and then 'Enter info on dependents'
