I sold a piece of property in NC and I live in GA. do I need to file a non resident tax form for ncfor gain on the property?

Yes, you will need to file a non resident return for the state of North Carolina.  Non residents are required to file if they received taxable income from sources that were attributable to the ownership of any interest in real in North Carolina. When you are ready to file the state returns, you should complete the North Carolina return before your Georgia return.
