HSA overpayment

2023 return box 12 shows amount far less than the max contribution amount of $3,850 Turbo tax is saying I've contributed too much and need to withdraw $1,300 from my HSA account or be taxed on it. I deleted the W2 and re-entered, with same results

HSA overpayment

So let's see what we've got:

1. You have Self-only HDHP coverage, right?

2. How many months did you have this coverage in 2023?

3. Did you have this coverage on December 1, 2023 (I assume not)?

4. Did you have a carryover of excess contributions from 2022?

5. Did you contribute to your HSA through your employer by means of payroll deductions (this would be included in the Code W amount in box 12 on your W-2)?

6. Did you enter any part of the Code W amount on the screen "Let's Enter [name]'s HSA contributions" on the second line called "Personal contributions"? It is a common mistake to misread the instructions which tell you not to put your payroll deductions on this second line.
