If you take the home office deduction, then the depreciation goes along with it. The IRS will recapture depreciation (when you sell your home) regardless if you took it or not. Why not get the entire deduction if you will pay taxes on the recaptured amount later?
You can choose not to take the home office deduction all together and avoid the depreciation recapture.
