HDHP

My spouse was covered under my employers High Deductible Plan (Family Plan) but I cannot get TurboTax to understand that he was covered and that my $8,300 employer-made contribution should not be penalized.  I have tried deleting the HSA contribution from my W-2 and marking that I had a family plan and he had no coverage.  I have tried marking that both of us were covered under a HDHP.  I keep getting the message that I over-funded the HSA account.  So frustrating.  Any advice?

HDHP

There is no need to mark both of you as covered. You being under Family HDHP coverage is enough.

 

What are you referring to? Some message that your spouse's HDHP coverage lapsed? Or to something else?

 

Please go all the way through the HSA interview until you get to the HSA Summary. Then give me the numbers from your Summary. We will start there in studying your issue.
