After TurboTax 2023 review giving me "no errors", my return was rejected by the IRS.
"Help me fix it" pointed to Section I, saying that if there was a number in lines 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, there also needed to be an entry in line 3a (2022 AGI).
That was not the problem. My 2022 AGI was in line 3a where it should be.
BUT -- line 1a (2023 AGI), which is just copied from 1040 line 11, was blank. Right-clicking for "data source" was unresponsive.
Fix was simple: enter 1040 line 11 (AGI) on 8936 line 1a, as an override. Return accepted.
This should never happen.
But Intuit has not handled the EV or EV charging well at all. Step-by-step can easily lead you to the wrong answer, unless you notice and click on "learn more" which takes you to the unassisted raw IRS guidance, which in the case of the EV charger really cries out for step-by-step assistance.
