Forced to standard deduction

I am using TT Deluxe.  Things were going fine.  I was entering all of my deductions and planning to itemize like I do most years.  My tax owed was reasonable, 3k .  My itemized deductions were higher than the standard deduction.  Then all of a sudden as I got to the review section, TT automatically switched to use the standard deduction and my tax went to 12k!  And it wont let me switch back!.. What do I need to do to fix this?  A detailed answer would be appreciated.  Thanks!
