Do you have to claim a child if they're on your employer health insurance?

We had a son back in April and my fiances work told him he has to claim him on his taxes because hes on his health insurance through his employer. However- he is also on Medicaid under me and we will get more back if i claim him, so can I claim him or does my fiance have to?

Do you have to claim a child if they're on your employer health insurance?

For tax purposes, either one of you can claim the child since the child is a qualifying child for both of you.
