Delaware Registration fee

Moved to DE from NJ.  Upon registering my car which was a 2018 Accord, I was charged the following:

Used Title Documentation fee (4% of Book Value of 23400)  995.00

Pleasure Registration  48 mo.    160.00

Title fees    35.00

Total:   1190.00

It is my belief that the 995.00 can be written off as MISC expense on Schedule A since it is charged based upon book value of the car.  All the other charges are normal annual ones.  The 995 seems to be an additional tax just to register the car when I already paid sales tax in NJ.

Anyone have any input on this??

Delaware Registration fee

You are correct, since the fee is based on the value of the vehicle, it is allowed as an itemized deduction.
