If you claim your 95 year old mother as a dependent, you can claim any medical expenses you paid for her out of your pocket as an itemized deduction on your tax return. You can only deduct the amount of total medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your AGI on your tax return as an itemized deduction. You will get a tax benefit if the total of all your itemized deductions is more than the standard deduction.
