Child Tax Credit and SSN

I submitted my 2022 tax return in March 2023 claiming $500 Credit for Other Dependents. I didn't file an extension.

My son received an SSN in July 2023.

Can I now amend my 2022 tax return requesting a Child Tax Credit?

I found this FAQ at the IRS website, but I still don't quite understand if it applies for my case: https://www.irs.gov/faqs/filing-requirements-status-dependents/dependents/dependents-9

Child Tax Credit and SSN

For Earned Income and Child Tax Credits, the child must have an SSN when you file an on-time tax return.  Filing an amended return will not allow you to claim the Child Tax Credit for 2022.

However, you might be able to file as Head of Household (if you now qualify and did not before) or claim the Dependent Care Credit, if applicable.

From your link:  Please note that you may not claim your child as a qualifying child for the EIC on either your original or an amended return if your child doesn't have an SSN on or before the due date of your return (including extensions), even if your child later gets an SSN.  Similarly, you may not claim your child as a qualifying child for the CTC/ACTC if your child doesn't have an SSN on or before the due date of your return (including extensions), even if your child later gets an SSN.
