Child Care by Foreign Day Care

I worked in foreign for few months in beginning of 2019 and end of 2018. During that time, we hired child care nanny to take care of kids. Also, i paid 2018 related service cost by 2019.

Can i claim child care expense by 2019 tax filing? I see that i can claim less than $2000 for 2018 child care for 2019 filing.

You claim the care in the year that you paid for it. You will have to mail your return in if the care provider does not have a social security or federal ID number.
