casualty losses

I have uninsured losses to my residence and personal property from Hurricane Michael of approx. $8000. Hurricane Michael is approved fed. disaster that occurred in Florida in Oct. 2018. Can I deduct those losses on my 2019 return? If so, what info do I need for Turbo Tax calculations? If not, how can I deduct them?

As you finished working through the MY INFO section, did you select YES for the screen asking if you were in a federally declared disaster area? Screen shot below.
