Carry over deductions

The standard deduction was better for me in 2018 but I still had several thousand dollars in donations that didn’t count. Can I continue making donations this year and carry over 2018’s donations and combine with 2019 donations if itemizing benefits me in 2019?

No, you cannot combine donations from more than one year. On your 2019 tax return you can only deduct donations that you made in 2019.
