Cannot efile federal return

Turbotax does not let me e-file my federal return. Spent over 2 hours with reps but no solution.

It also says that the direct debit option is not available due to my filing choices. But I do not recall making any specific choices. The system simply does not give me the option of filing electronically and using direct debit.

I get messages regarding schedule C that my Assets and 100% deductible meals need review but I have nothing to put there for 2023. 

I thought that I pay Turbotax for e-filing convenience. If I have to mail my tax return, I can use the manual forms for free.

Cannot efile federal return

I'd like to review your tax return that is experiencing this issue but will need you to create a copy that doesn't have any of your personal information.  To create this diagnostic file, follow the instructions below to send it to us.

 

For TurboTax Online:

 

  1. Sign into your TurboTax Online account
  2. Scroll down to Tax Tools from the menu ‌ side. 
  3. Select Tools from the dropdown 
  4. On the pop-up screen, select Share my file with agent
  5. A message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us appears
  6. Provide the Token Number that was generated in this thread. 

 

For TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

 

 Open your return.

  1. Select the Online tab in the black bar at the top of TurboTax and select Send Tax File to Agent
  2. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Select OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  3. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in this thread.  

 

This will allow us to open a copy of your tax return without any of your personal information.
