Can you write off expenses for a car that is under a different name?

Ok so let us say you are self-employed, and you use a vehicle to do your work. This vehicle is under a family member's name and it was given to your son but your son lets you use the vehicle. I know standard mileage rate deduction does not apply due to the vehicle being under a different name and depreciation, however, in this case, can you use actual expense deduction if the person driving the vehicle for work has paid for the gas, oil, and repairs?

Yes, you can deduct the vehicle expenses you pay for as they are ordinary and necessary business expenses.
