can we deduct child support as non-Custodial Parents
my husband has two boys from his previous marriage, the kids live with their mom in Japan. Every month my husband paid $1700+ to the kids but the kids don't come visit us; after the divorce, my husband barely talked with his ex, not to mention to have her to sign any document to agree us claiming the kids as dependents; plus Japan doesn't respect US laws. From all the resources online seems like we cannot deduct the child support, however $1700/month is not a small number. is there anyway we can deduct this?

child support is not deductible by the payer nor is it taxable to the recipient. recent tax law changes have not changed this
