Can I deduct a mortgage lien that was paid off?

I paid off a mortgage lien that was acquired during the closing of our first home. This lien was a first-time home buyers program and was voluntarily used. Would I be able to claim the costs to pay off the lien as a deduction?

No, you don't get a deduction for paying off a loan.  You can deduct interest on a mortgage, if you paid interest, and if the lien met the legal definition of a mortgage.
