Can a parent deduct expenses they paid for their dependent child to volunteer for a nonprofit? Like travel, food, other necessities, etc.

She had to purchase a special bike and related biking gear for the trip. Had to pay for airfare to and from the coast, including bike and all supplies. Had to pay for any incidentals and food along the 2 month trip.

Some of those expenses should be deductible. Since you know the full details, please begin on page 3 with contributions you can deduct and then move to page 4 to read about benefits received from the donation in
